LOCAL BUSES

BUS Connections from Grenoble downtown (hotels) to the ESRF

There are two buses (TAG) you can take from the city centre to the site. For both bus routes, from Grenoble downtown the journey takes approximately 15-20 minutes. There is a bus every 10 minutes throughout the day until about 8pm. The exact times depend on the period of the year so check the timetable at the bus stop. Tickets can be purchased singly from the bus driver. 10 trips tickets are purchased at tobacconists and major tram stops.

  •  A one-way ticket costs 1,50  Euro: it is valid for one hour during which it can be used for connections and for the return journey
  • A 10 trips ticket costs 12,90 Euro

Bus 34

  • GRENOBLE downtown to ESRF: the bus N° 34 (timetable) has two terminuses and these are indicated on the front of the bus: "Polygone Scientifique" or "Sassenage". Both buses stop at the "Polygone Scientifique". The "Polygone Scientifique" stop is just next to the ESRF site entrance.

    * There is a bus stop in front of the Grenoble railway station (cross over the road when leaving the railway station), where you can take the bus 34 to go to the ESRF.
     
  • ESRF to GRENOBLE downtown with the bus N° 34: when taking the bus at the stop next to the ESRF site entrance make sure that you take the bus in direction of "Poisat-Premol" (do NOT take the bus direction "Sassenage").

Bus 30

  • Behind the railway station (Europole side) take the bus N° 30 (timetable) direction "Saint-Egrève Cap des H – Saint-Egrève Gare" to the "Place de la Résistance" stop: you then have a 10 minute walk to the site entrance.

Site Access and Badge

The site is a restricted area and you will be asked to report at the site entrance on arrival. You will need to produce proof of identification (e.g. passport, ID card) to enter.

You will be given a badge (either at the site entrance or at the registration desk of the event) : please wear this badge on site over the whole period of the event. This badge is also your site access badge: you will be asked to present it at the site entrance each time you wish to enter on site during the period of the event.
