The ESRF's 2012 Young scientist award goes to physicist Irene Zanette, age 28, for her pioneering work on the development of a 2D grating interferometer for directional dark-field and quantitative phase imaging, and for the demonstration of low-dose method for multimodal grating-based tomography. Irene is a post-doc at the University of Munich. The award was given by Lawrence Margulies from Brookhaven National Laboratory.
