A number of rooms have been pre-booked at the Royal Hotel for the nights of 11 and 12 May.  The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the N° 34 bus route, which provides direct access to the ESRF.

Access to and from the ESRF

Please note that as from 22 April 2014, visitors without a valid badge must use the new ESRF site entrance located at 71 rue des Martyrs

By bus from Grenoble town center: Take the N°34 marked 'Polygone Scientifique' or 'Sassenage Château' from the 'Felix Viallet' bus stop and get off at the 'Place de la Résistance' stop (N°2).  The journey takes approximately 15 minutes.  Tickets can be purchased from the driver; price for one ticket: 1€50.  You then have a short walk of about 5 minutes (following the yellow signs) to the new site entrance.

Buses marked 'Sassenage Château' also stop at the 'Martyrs Résistance' stop (N°1) which is in front of the new site entrance.  Please note however, that these buses run less frequently (one out of every three buses).

By plane: If you arrive by plane and take the airport shuttle bus, please ask the driver to drop you off at the 'Place de la Résistance' stop (N°3) on the map. Then head for the yellow signs on the map and walk up to the new ESRF site entrance.

Please also note that you will be asked to show a form of identification at the ESRF site entrance

If you are leaving Grenoble from Grenoble train station, take the bus N°34 direction 'Poisat Prémol' just outside the new ESRF site entrance at the 'Martyrs Résistance' stop (N°1).

If you are leaving by plane and are taking the shuttle bus to Lyon Saint Exupery Airport, please walk to the 'Place de la Résistance' shuttle stop (N°4.)
