Beauty of science: Majorana stars

Majorana stars representation of the ground state of spin systems (with S=40) of cubic and icosahedral anisotropies, respectively.

The “stars” correspond to nodal points of the wavefunction and fully characterise the quantum state of the system. The quantum dynamic manifests as a “dance” of the “stars”. Images produced by Patrick Bruno, ESRF Theory Group (unpublished).
