Scope

The aim of the workshop is to bring scientists together who use wavelength dispersive optics in the hard X-ray range for photon-in/photon-out. Several beamlines at the ESRF have added X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) to their portfolio and further installations are planned with EBS. A new instrument on ID26 is optimized for tender XES and ID24 will combine a 1-micron beam with XES.  We would like to discuss applications and the theory of XES and instrumentation for wavelength dispersive optics. This also covers high energy resolution fluorescence detected (HERFD) X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES), resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) as well as X-ray absorption spectroscopy using laboratory instruments. We are looking for feedback from the user community concerning pertinent applications that require further instrumental development (e.g. sample environment, time and spatial resolution).

Topics

  • Instrumentation for scanning and dispersive, tender and hard XES
  • XES in the applied sciences
  • XES combined with a micron beam
  • Data analysis and theory

Registration fee

Registration fee: 100€
Workshop dinner: 40€

The registration fee includes lunches/dinners at the EPN restaurant, poster session buffet and coffee breaks. It also includes accommodation at the EPN guesthouse including breakfast but the number of rooms is limited. The rooms can be shared and a preferred person for sharing the room can be indicated in the comment box during the registration process. Rooms will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis with preference for shared rooms. A list of hotels downtown Grenoble with negociated rates can be obtained here. The ESRF is easily reached by tram.

The participants have to arrange and pay for their own travel to/from Grenoble.
